The Intercontinental New York Barclay Hotel has a history that dates back over ninety years. Originally one of the four notable railroad hotels in 1926 New York City, the Barclay has maintained a classic feel with original details, while also renovating and decorating with modern style in mind. Through this combination of past and present, it provides a comforting place to rest one’s head after a busy day in a bustling city.
There are five types of guestrooms available at the Barclay: Superior, Deluxe, Premier, Executive, and Barclay. The Superior guestrooms start at 250 square feet in size and offer a king or queen sized bed, a foyer, and are furnished with a unique variety of fabrics and patterns. Deluxe guestrooms offer more space at 275 feet, and can offer a king sized bed or two twin beds. Both rooms are equipped with LED flat screens and feature bathrooms reminiscent of 1920s Manhattan. In the Premier guestrooms, one can choose a king bed or two double beds and the rooms offer all the features of the Superior and Deluxe rooms. In the Barclay Room, the walls are adorned with mural artwork and provide one-of-a-kind views with two corner windows looking out over Manhattan.
Suites are also available at the Barclay. Along with a king-sized bed or two double beds, the One Bedroom Deluxe Suite offers a separate living area with a cozy fireplace, pull-out sofa, and a desk. In the bathroom, guests can enjoy heated marble floors. An Executive Suite with a larger desk and buffet area is also available. Finally, the Presidential Suite covers 3,400 square feet and includes living and dining areas, multiple bedrooms, a private fitness room, library office, and a baby grand piano. In the future, the Barclay plans to introduce the Harold S. Vanderbilt Penthouse. It will offer floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Chrysler Building and a private terrace.
Guests at the Barclay can enjoy dining and beverages at the Gin Parlour and Barclay restaurant. The Gin Parlour is styled after bars from the 1920s and offers 88 premium gins as well as other favorite beverages. Inspired by the diversity of New York City, the Barclay restaurant offers a variety of modern cuisine. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and uses local and organic produce whenever possible. Room service is also available at any time and will meet any dietary requirements.
A 24-hour fitness center is available for guests and it contains all traditional exercise equipment. Also available is a 24-hour business center in the lobby. Guests have access to two computers, printers, a scanner and a copier, and wireless Internet.
